Anti-Prejudice Flash Mob
HOW TO Screw Some Evangelist Maggots Right In The Wallet
The link above courtesy of Warren Ellis' LJ tells you how to make a stand against prejudiced religious cults like Focus on the Family, the horrid anti-gay evangelical church based in Colorado Springs.
Basically, you go to their website where they give away free DVDs, CDs, and other "resource material." Of course, they have a "suggested amount for donation," but whether you give or not, they're obliged to send you a copy of the materials you requested ($100 limit). Among the selections are the Chronicles of Narnia DVD and Les Miserables CD collection sandwiched among "How to Raise Non-Gay Children" and other lovely cult-brainwashing material.
Obviously, Focus on the Family gets their funding from donations and sponsorships. By asking for these DVDs and CDs for free without donating any amount, Focus on the Family will have to keep sending these material to different people around the world (no questions asked, by the way) and start losing money.
No way was I going to pass up this chance, so I promptly did my part and requested several DVDs. Making big bucks off of people's prejudices in the guise of religion is one of the biggest crimes against humanity -- and there are far too many of these organizations.
I would invite more people to join in, but the website crashed a few hours ago from the amount of traffic this flash mob has caused. It would be interesting to see just how Focus on the Family reacts to this. In the meantime, I'm seeking out other pro-prejudice websites and see if I can't do the same thing.
